Elias Espinosa, age 64, of Columbus passed away on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, in an Austin hospital. He was born on Nov.14, 1958, in Seymoure, Texas to the late Petronillo and Eloisa Yanez Espinosa.
Elias was raised in Glen Flora and attended El Campo High School. On April 16, 1981, he married Mary Louise Martinez in East Bernard. He loved talking about his wife and son. He was shortly employed at Utex in Weimar but left an impact on many people. Elias never met a stranger, loved BBQing, yard work, was a drummer at church and loved singing. He would always wear his jewelry. He worked for several gravel companies for 20 plus years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Rachael Espinosa Ruiz, Hortencia Espinosa Juarez, Lupe Espinosa Cardenas and brothers, Victor Espinosa, Augustine Espinosa, John Espinosa and Joe Espinosa.
He will be missed by his beloved wife of 42 years, beloved son, Blake Elias Espinosa and wife, Vanessa and his darling granddaughter, Eliana Jaelen Hinojosa.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Nov. 8, 202 at 9 a.m. with the funeral service at noon at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
Pallbearers will be Al Martinez, Jesse Martinez, Donnie Rollins, Armando Adame, Augustine Espinosa, Jr., Richard Espinosa, Victor Espinosa, Jr., David Ruiz, and Adrian Espinosa. Honorary Pallbearers are Christopher Sosa and Joe Sosa.
