Due to the generosity of the community as well as the members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus, the St. Paul Peru team was able to raise over $10,000 during 2023 to send to its sister congregation, Iglesia Cristiana Camino de Santidad in Cañete, Peru. These funds were used to improve their church building.
These improvements included: completing the roof, installing a water cistern, placing stucco and then painting the outside walls, renovating/ improving the bathrooms, extending the outer perimeter walls. They were also able to add a sign with the church’s name to the front of the building — a visible reminder to the community that the building is a church. They continue to teach, preach, and spread God’s love because of the community’s generosity.
Due to political unrest in Peru earlier in 2023, large groups were discouraged from traveling and prevented the team from travelling to Peru.
However, Pastor Alan Kethan travelled to Lima and Cañete in July. He was able to work alongside church members in Cañete to help with the improvements, attend church services, and continue building relationships with the congregation. He also brought back lots of wonderful pictures.
Thank you for your support and generosity during our drive-thru dinner fundraisers. We are all blessed to be able to help those living in impoverishment. The Peru team is making plans to return in the summer of 2024. Fundraisers are being planned to contribute to the mission.
