St. Anthony students have gone on several field trips this fall season.
The 5th graders attended “If I Had a Hammer” at Blinn College in Schulenburg on Oct. 30. Students had a hands-on approach in building a house and learned how math concepts are applied in skilled trades.
On Nov. 6, the 5th graders visited the Czech Heritage Center in LaGrange to discover the history and culture of Texas Czechs. Students were treated to homemade chicken noodle soup, sandwiches and kolache for dessert.
The 5th grade class was on the move again on Wednesday, Nov. 8 as they attended Vocations Day at the Diocese of Victoria to learn about vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and consecrated life through prayer and education.
The SAS 6th grade class attended a guided tour of the Painted Churches in the communities of Dubina, High Hill, Praha, and Ammannsville on Nov. 6. Last Thursday, Nov. 9, 4th graders experienced what learning was like at the Historic Zimmerscheidt one-room schoolhouse. St. Anthony 5K will head to the Oil Ranch on Nov. 16 for a day of Fall fun.
On Nov. 10, St. Anthony held its annual Veterans’ Day Program, recognizing SAS students’ family and friends that served in the military. A reception followed, giving students a chance to visit with the honorees.
Last week, Saints opened their basketball season vs. OLV with the boys’ C team gaining their first victory. St. Anthony basketball teams will take on Nazareth in Victoria on Nov. 16 at 5:30 p.m.
The weekly Children’s mass will be held Friday, Nov. 17 at 8:15 a.m. There will be a 1:15 p.m. early release as well on that day, leading into Thanksgiving break from Nov. 20 to Nov. 24.
