The Weimar Ladycats season came to an end on Tuesday, Nov. 7, after losing to the Thrall Tigerettes in the Regional Quarterfinal.

The Ladycats were defeated in three straight sets by the Tigerettes but the match was closer than what the score reflects.

The Ladycats came into Tuesday’s match knowing they have a tall task in front of them going up against the Tigerettes. The Tigerettes are known around the state for their volleyball program and right fully so because they hardly ever lose.

The Ladycats were not intimidated by the Tigerettes but started the match off flat. The Ladycats struggled early in the first set. Being matched up with a good team like the Tigerettes they know how to take advantage of flat teams and they did.

The Tigerettes jumped out to an early lead in the first set and never let go of it as they went up one set to zero with a score of 12-25 over the Ladycats. The loss in the first set served as a wakeup call for the Ladycats and came back in the second set with much more energy.

The second set saw the Ladycats get back to their style of play and caught the Tigerettes asleep at the wheel. The Ladycats went into attack mode on one of the best teams in the state and battled all the way until the end.

Unfortunately, it was not enough and the Tigerettes were able to shift into extra gear and close out the second set with a score of 19-25 over the Ladycats. Arriving at the third set the Ladycats knew that they could not lose another set if they wanted to keep their season going.

They came out of the huddle with a focus and determination to win this set and build off that momentum. They started the set hanging in with the Tigerettes sparking an offensive surge from both teams.

The Ladycats fought hard in the third set and pushed the Tigerettes to their limits. As the Ladycats inched closer to that 25-point mark to end the set the Tigerettes bounced back and made things close and even took the lead.

The Tigerettes ran away late in the set and kept the Ladycats at 21 points in the third set and closed out the set and the match with a score of 25-21. With the final whistle sounding the Ladycats season was over, and they took a second after the game for the players to be with each other one last time as a team.

The Ladycats were one of the top teams in this playoff journey and after losing to the Tigerettes they will be looking to come back next season and make their way back to the playoffs to try and avenge this loss.
