Note from the Editor

As many in the nation already know, Veterans Day will be acknowledged and celebrated this Saturday, Nov. 11 to recognize those living and deceased who have put their life and limb on the line to protect the certain freedoms residents benefit from in the country.

As many in the nation already know, Veterans Day will be acknowledged and celebrated this Saturday, Nov. 11 to recognize those living and deceased who have put their life and limb on the line to protect the certain freedoms residents benefit from in the country.

Here in Colorado County, the influence of the military is strong as there are many retired veterans as well as current service members. Basically, anywhere you are in the county, you are likely to encounter someone who has dedicated a portion of their lives to this nation’s defense.

That being said, celebrating veterans is something that we should not wait until a date in November to recognize. The influence is felt daily, and so should the gratitude for these veterans. I feel confident speaking for the rest of the Citizen staff when I say that the appreciation for the U.S. military and retired servicemembers is well-deserved and necessary.

The Citizen supports any active and retired military personnel for their service and their dedication to our safety. Do something nice for the veterans in your life and in your area this week, but also remember that their service spanned much more than just a week or a day. Their appreciation also should not be limited to just this week.
