Holiday Hold’em — Multi-County Online Holiday Wellness Program to Begin Nov. 20

Looking to maintain or even lose weight this holi day season? A Multi-County Community Wellness program, Holiday Hold’em wi ll begin soon according to Ja’Shae Carter, County Extension Agent for Family & Community Health.

This free online challenge is designed to encourage participants to gain no more than 2 pounds during the holiday season.

Austin, Colorado, and Fayette Counties will be offering this program starting on Monday, Nov 20 and will continue through January 1, 2024.

On average, individuals gain between eight and 10 pounds during the holiday season.

Holiday Hold ‘em is a 6-week challenge to gain no more than two pounds during the holiday season. Starting on Nov. 20, participants will do weekly weigh ins at home, a local fitness center or the individual’s preferred site.

Participants can increase their health in less than five minutes a day each week. Make it a holiday challenge and include coworkers, friends and family along with the challenge. Participants will also receive a Challenge Log to keep track of their progress, along with a newsletter each week to challenge individuals to improve their overall health.

Be sure to register by Nov. 17 to be ready for the November 20th kickoff. E-communications will begin on the week of Nov. 20. Those without an email account can still enroll by calling the Fayette County office at 979-968-5831 to sign up to have the information mailed. All participant information is kept confidential.
