The Weimar Wildcats have earned a spot in the postseason this season after defeating Flatonia on Friday, Oct. 27 in Weimar.

The Wildcats shutout the Flatonia Bulldogs 31-0 on their home field Friday night for a big statement win to secure a spot in the postseason.

Defense was the obvious story Friday night shutting down any and all scoring chances the Bulldogs even forced a few turnovers which allowed the offense to do their thing. The Weimar offense pounded the ball down the Bulldogs throat running with ease all night long starting in the first quarter.

The Wildcats wasted no time establishing an early lead in the game, scoring one of their five rushing touchdowns to open the scoring. A missed PAT left the Wildcats with a 6-0 lead in the first quarter.

The two defenses kept the opposing offenses off the scoreboard for the rest of the quarter setting up a big offensive surge from the Wildcats in the second. The Wildcats found the endzone two more times in the second quarter thanks to their potent rushing attack.

After two more missed PATs the Wildcats found themselves with an 18-0 lead heading into halftime. The Wildcats knew what was at stake in this game and came out in the second half looking to seal the deal.

The Bulldogs were equal to the task shutting down the Wildcat offense in the third quarter to keep themselves alive in the game. The Bulldogs entered the fourth quarter with some confidence looking to find their way onto the scoreboard.

The Wildcats’ offense was able to find their footing again in the fourth quarter after struggling in the third quarter. The strong rushing attack found the endzone two more times to extend their lead and after a failed two-point conversion the Wildcats were finally able to secure a PAT to make the score 31-0 and close out the game.

The Wildcats will now enjoy a well-deserved bye week to help them prepare for their upcoming playoff journey where their opponent has yet to be determined.
