“These hometown heroes cannot be thanked enough for energizing our future by educating young minds of children,” Nueces said in a statement on their website, “NEC Co-op Energy hopes grant funds will ease the financial burden teachers face supplying their classrooms and providing a safe space for our youth.”

The Supply a Teacher charity is a grant that intends to provide teachers with a boost in resources to assist with some of the financial requirements to keep classrooms stocked with supplies; a burden that is often carried by the teachers themselves.

Teachers who receive the grant are recognized on the Nueces website, magazine, social media pages as well as a spotlight at the headquarters.

There are five tiers of grant awards included with the initiative. Teachers who apply can receive either a $2,500 award, a $1,500 award, a $1,000 award, a $750 award or a $500 award.

In 2023, NEC has awarded $31,250 to 25 member teachers as they continue their philanthropic program.
