On Tuesday, Oct. 10, the Ladycats defended homecourt well welcoming in Flatonia for their first of two district match ups. On Friday, Oct. 13 the Ladycats traveled to Louise for the second of their two district matchups for the week.
Vs. Flatonia, W, 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-20, 25-22) In the first of their two district matchups for the week the Ladycats took on Flatonia. Flatonia was looking to walk into the Ladycats gym and beat them in front of the hometown crowd, but the Ladycats were not going to allow it.
Starting the match, the Ladycats and Flatonia came out firing on all cylinders, trying to secure a win in the first set, and put their team in the driver’s seat. The Ladycats fed off the energy from the crowd and kept Flatonia at bay and came away with a 25-20 win in the first set.
Flatonia responded in the second set showing a lot of grit to keep themselves in the set and evened up the match with a 26-24 win. After the tight sight, the Ladycats look to their seniors like Sharkia Johnson, Hannah Fisbeck, Delaney Turlington and Chloe Grifaldo to settle the team down and finish the match.
The seniors did just that as they cruised to wins in the second and third sets with scores of 25-20 and 25-22 securing another district win for the season. The win gave momentum to the Ladycats moving into their game against Lousie on Saturday, Oct. 14, where they want to keep things rolling and string some wins together.
@ Louise, W, 3-0 (25-6, 25-14, 25-15) The Ladycats were able to hang on to their momentum From Tuesday night’s win and carry it over to Louise for their second district matchup of the week on Friday, Oct. 13.
The Ladycats wasted no time in their second match of the week defeating Louise in three straight sets as they continue to push for the playoffs. The Ladycats offense was buzzing on Friday night after an all out battle against Flatonia Tuesday night helped them find a rhythm that carried over to Friday’s game.
The Ladycats dominated the first set and only allowed Louise to score six points in the opening set. This trend did not stick for the Ladycats as Louise came back in the second set with a more potent offense to score 14 points in the second set.
The Ladycats offense was overpowering in the second set and continued to attack the net and score at will. They brought this type of offense into the third set as well and ended the match close out their week with a second win in just as many games.
The Ladycats have only a few more opportunities left to fully secure a playoff spot with their next opportunity coming on Friday, Oct. 20, when they travel to Schulenburg for their next district game.
