St. Anthony gets donations, preps for sports

The Catholic Daughters, Court Mary Queen of the Snows made a generous donation to St. Anthony from their dessert sales at the recent KC drive thru meal. The Catholic Daughters, Court Mary Queen of the Snows made a generous donation to St. Anthony from their dessert sales at the recent KC drive thru meal. The funds will be used for a new fence on the large playground. The parish KCs and CDA are regular supporters of St. Anthony, and the school has expressed gratitude for their support.

September’s Athletes of the Month were announced last week. The winners who received Sonic gift cards were Reese Sunderman for cheerleading, Logan Glueck for volleyball, Mitchell Smith for cross-country, and Ty Wiggs for football.

The Saints have been active during recent weeks. The St. Anthony floral class made and provided the church’s altar flower arrangements for the last weekend of September. Last Friday, St. Anthony students donated a total of $575 toward Fr. James’ and Fr. Nelson’s cake donations at the St. Anthony Church picnic.

The Saints football team stepped up to play the Victoria Gators on Oct. 7 after Victoria’s opponents cancelled the Gators’ homecoming game.

This evening, the Saints football team will take on Trinity at Cardinal field at 6 p.m. The Saints Mini-Cheer squad will perform at today’s pep rally, pre-game and during the first quarter alongside the Saints cheerleaders on the sideline.

The St. Anthony Cross Country team will compete at Faith Academy on Oct. 14. Lady Saints volleyball heads to Trinity for games on Oct. 16. Fall picture retakes are scheduled for Oct. 13. The regular Friday Children’s Mass will be led by the 2nd grade on Oct. 13 at 8:15 a.m.
