Lady Cats improve to 3-0 in District

The Weimar Lady Wildcats defeated the Shiner Comanches in a four-set match on Tuesday, Sept. 26, in Shiner to improve their district record to 3- 0.

The Weimar Lady Wildcats defeated the Shiner Comanches in a four-set match on Tuesday, Sept. 26, in Shiner to improve their district record to 3- 0.

The Lady Cats were led by Chandley Tolbert who ranked up 19 kills and three aces as well as Izzy Reeves who scored 17 digs, with Madison Luckey and Lauren Hinze combining for 41 assists for their team on their way to a victory in Shiner.

The first set would be the closest of the four with the Lady Cats winning it with a score of 2521. The Lady Cats would be pushed to the edge in the first set as both teams traded leads, but the Lady Cats would find a late surge to close out the set.

Shiner was not going to just roll over and let the Lady Cats run away with the matchup and took advantage of the Lady Cats defensive miscues. Shiner would take the second set by a score of 25-19 building the tension for the very pivotal third set.

The third set would be intense with each point greeted with explosive cheers from the team that scored it and the fans followed by intense silence while the ball was in play. The Lady Cats would be in a heavyweight bout in the third set, but they again would dig deep enough to get over the hump and close out the third set 25-20.

Sitting with a 2-1 and one set away from getting their third district win in as many games, the Lady Cats came out firing in the fourth set. Shiner again would make the Lady Cats earn every point they scored but the Lady Cats would be up to the challenge.

During the fourth set the Lady Cats fought tooth and nail to make sure they hung on to their lead and continued to buzz on offense to get points on the board early and often. Shiner would keep the set close, but the determined Lady Cats squad would grit their teeth and finish the set off with a score of 25-19.

The Lady Cats game on Friday, Sept. 29, against Gonzales was canceled because of a scheduling issue but the team will continue as scheduled when they welcome Schulenburg to their home gym on Tuesday, Oct. 3, for their next district game.
