The Weimar Lady Wildcats junior high cross-country team can call themselves district champs after their performance in Shiner on Saturday, Sept. 30.

The Lady Wildcats went to Shiner and with the district title on the line they made a huge statement.

There would be five Lady Wildcat runners finishing the race in the top 10, boosting the team to first place in the standings. MJ Griffin would cross the finish line first for the Lady Wildcats coming in 2nd place and it really set the tone for the rest of her teammates.

Right behind her was Livvy Noska, who finished 3rd in the district race, but this was just the tip of the iceberg for the Lady Wildcats. Addison Olive was right behind Noska in 4th making it three Lady Wildcats finishing in the top five of this race.

With Griffin, Noska and Olive finishing in the top five of the race the Lady Wildcats were firmly in the driver’s seat to win the district championship and continued to press the gas with two more runners crossing the finish line in the top 10.

Emily Sternadel would cross the finish line a few seconds after Olive to secure 7th place for the Lady Wildcats. Only for teammate Annabella Ferretiz to cross the finish line in 10th place for the Lady Wildcats.

The Lady Wildcats junior high team claimed their district title but are hoping the high school team can add a trophy to their case when they participate in their district meet on Monday, Oct. 9, in Shiner.
