Local DAR helps St. Anthony’s celebrate Constitution Week

Local schools in the area celebrated Constitution Week from Sept.17 to Sept. 23, which is a commemoration of the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by thirty-nine founding fathers on Sept. 17, 1787.

Local schools in the area celebrated Constitution Week from Sept.17 to Sept. 23, which is a commemoration of the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by thirty-nine founding fathers on Sept. 17, 1787.

To this end, the John Everett Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) helped St. Anthony Catholic School celebrate this event by donating a replica Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence for their school library.

St. Anthony librarian Joan Hill expressed her excitement to add these documents to their repository.

Additionally, small packets were assembled for each student in Danette Cantu’s 8th grade History class. These packets consisted of a US flag, patriotic button, pen, sticky notes, a Preamble bookmark and a pamphlet on the Constitution and its Amendments.

The DAR is one of the largest patriotic women’s organizations in the world as they promote historic preservation, education and patriotism.
