Lady Cards continue to roll in district play

Sage Thompson and Ally Tribe celebrated their athletic accomplishments they achieved while wearing a Lady Cardinal uniform. Thompson eclipsed the 4,000-assist mark while Tribe reached 2,200 kills in their career and what better way to celebrate than back-to-back district wins.

@ Tidehaven, W, 3-0 (25-7, 25-20, 25-11)

The Lady Cards started the week off scorching hot sweeping the Tidehaven Tigers on the road and set the standard for how they wanted to play the rest of the week.

Defensively the Lady Cardinals controlled the net which allowed them to take advantage of the open space left in the Tigers defense. The Lady Cardinals would work their way to 4-0 in district on Tuesday and came back ready to compete even harder on Friday.

The Tigers would show some life in the second set against the Lady Cardinals but that was as close as they would get. The Lady Cardinals came in with a game plan and executed it perfectly as they dominated this match from start to finish before moving back to home court on Friday to celebrate Thompson and Tribe.

Vs. Palacios, W, 3-0 (25-10, 25-6, 25-9)

Before their game the Lady Cardinals took time to celebrate Thompson and Tribe and their athletic accomplishments. The team gathered for a picture with their teammates but had to quickly focus up and take care of business.

The Lady Cardinals did not stay wrapped up in the celebration for a very long time once the game started and did whatever they wanted on offense and defense. Completely dominating the first set and taking it by a score of 25-10.

The second set would be much of the same as the defense would come alive again for the Lady Cardinals holding Palacios to only six points in the second set. The Lady Cardinals would continue to roll in the third set picking up the win and completing the sweep.

The celebration for Thompson and Tribe was much larger after the game because while being recognized for individual achievements it makes it a little bit better when there is a celebration for a team win added to it.

The Lady Cardinals currently sit on top of their district standings at 5-0 and they look to keep their spot when they matchup with Yoakum on Tuesday, Sept. 26, in Yoakum.
