Sheriff ’s Report
MONDAY, JULY 31
At approximately 10:05 a.m., David Wiese was dispatched to the Sheriff’s office in reference to a civil matter. The complainant reported that someone baled her hay on some property that she leases without her knowledge. Case cleared by report.
At approximately 8:56 a.m., Ryan Ohl was dispatched to CR 270 and CR 271 in Weimar regarding property damage. Ohl observed a downed fence with tracks leading onto the property. It was later discovered how the property was damaged. The situation was resolved between parties. Case cleared by report.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., Ryan Ohl was dispatched to CR 106 and CR 2152 regarding estray horses. Upon arrival, Ohl observed horses in the roadway and open field. After further investigation, the horses were transported to the Colorado County Auction Barn for holding. The owner later came forward. Case cleared.
At approximately 5:02 p.m., Roberty Villanueva was dispatched to a public service in regard to a theft that occurred at the 1400 block of Sunderman Road near Alleyton. Case is pending further investigation.
At approximately 5:45 p.m., Benjamen Melendez responded to Splashway in Sheridan in reference to a missing juvenile reported by the Lavaca County Sheriff’s office. The juvenile was located and returned to family. Case cleared.
TUESDAY, AUG 1
At approximately 8:50 a.m., Robert Villanueva was dispatched to the 1300 block of Loose Cow Road in Altair in reference to an estray cow. After further investigation, the owner was identified and later retrieved his livestock from the Columbus Auction Barn. Case cleared.
At approximately 11:22 a.m., Robert Villanueva was dispatched to a dog bite on CR 116 near Garwood. The dog was determined to be a stray and could not be located. The victim was treated for injuries at the El Campo ER. Case cleared by report.
At approximately 2:13 p.m., Ryan Ohl arrived at Splashway in reference to fraudulent use or possession of identifying information. Upon arrival, Ohl spoke to the management team. Case is pending further investigation.
WEDNESDAY, AUG 2
At approximately 11:22 a.m., Santa Nino was dispatched to Cavendar Ford in reference to a found weapon. After further investigation, the owner was located and the weapon was returned. Case cleared.
THURSDAY, AUG 3
At approximately 8:03 p.m., Tyler Pavlicek was dispatched to the 1000 block of Sunderman Road in Alleyton in reference to fence damage. The case will be inactive until additional leads can be developed.
FRIDAY, AUG 4
At approximately 8:08 a.m., Ryan Ohl was dispatched to the 1100 block of CR 213 in Weimar in reference to a Burn Ban violation. After further investigation, one subject was issued a citation violation of county burn ban. Case cleared.
At approximately 5:16 p.m., Benjamen Melendez responded to Splashway in Sheridan in reference to fraud. Case is pending further investigation.
SATURDAY, AUG 5
At approximately 12:29 a.m., Benjamen Melendez attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 4200 block of HWY 71 south. The driver fled and eventually stopped at a residence in the city limits of Columbus. After further investigation, Christopher Jose Moreno Flores, 24, of Columbus, was arrested for fleeing from a peace officer. Case cleared by arrest.
At approximately 5:27 p.m., Benjamen Melendez met with a citizen at the Sheriff’s Office in reference to found property. There were packages located on her property with no visible address or recipient information. The property was later secured at the Sheriff’s Office. Case is pending.
At approximately 4:15 p.m., Ryan Ohl was dispatched to the Sheriff’s Office regarding an agency assist. I met with a Weimar Police Officer at the Colorado County Jail to assist with a combative inmate. Case cleared by agency assist.
At approximately 7:58 p.m., Frankie Cantu was dispatched to Bowie Street in Altair in reference to a verbal disturbance. After further investigation, one subject was issued a Criminal Trespass Warning. Case cleared.
SUNDAY, AUG 6
At approximately 7:41 a.m., Ryan Ohl arrived at the 5300 block of West 7th Street in Sheridan in reference to a Protective Order. After further investigation, Dakota Lee Ward, 34, of Georgetown, was arrested for violation of a protective order. Case cleared by arrest.
At approximately 10:01 p.m., Benjamen Melendez was dispatched to the 5800 block of W 2nd Street in Sheridan in reference to a disturbance. The case was later cleared by report.
MONDAY, AUG 7
At approximately 12:30 a.m., Benjamen Melendez was dispatched to the 1100 block of CR 168 in reference to a motor vehicle accident. It was discovered a vehicle left the roadway causing property damage and the operator fled the scene.
At approximately 1 p.m., while working an extra job at Splashway, Jeffery Argo received a report of fraud that occurred earlier in the month. Case is pending further investigation.
At approximately 9:55 a.m., Santa Nino was dispatched to 1061 Richter Road in Columbus in reference to a death investigation. Justice of the Peace Pct. 3, Don Clark, arrived on scene to conduct an inquest. The incident appears to be a suicide. Next of kin has been notified. Case is pending results of an autopsy at the Travis County Medical Examiner.
At approximately 7:57 a.m., Randy Mican was dispatched to the 2300 block of 8th Street in Rock Island in reference to a disturbance in progress. The suspect was identified and a warrant has been issued for assault family violence w/ previous conviction. Case is pending investigation.
TUESDAY, AUG 8
At approximately 12:48 a.m., Zane Blaha was dispatched to 3013 near Spalinger Road in reference to a motor vehicle accident involving livestock. The livestock owner was identified. Case cleared by report.
At approximately 7:24 a.m., Randy Mican was dispatched to a one vehicle accident on FM 949 at Reitz Quinn road. The driver of the vehicle fell asleep causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a tree. The driver was transported to a Houston area Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Case cleared by report.
