The upcoming F.I.R.S.T. Class Education Awards hosted by the Diocese of Victoria Office of Catholic Schools will award teachers for providing outstanding, quality education and faith formation to their students. F.I.R.S.T. stands for faith, integrity, respect, scholarship and tradition. SAS nominees for the Elementary level award are Sharon Hajovsky and Jennifer Busselman.

On Sept. 30, the SAS cross-country team will compete at the Luling Kolache Fest. The Lady Saints volleyball team will compete at St. Rose in Schulenburg on Oct. 2 at 5 p.m.

SAS ambassadors and other students will be rolling up their sleeves and volunteering at local church picnics in the coming weeks. St. Roch’s church picnic in Mentz will be on Oct. 1 and St. Anthony’s church picnic will be on Oct. 8 at the Columbus Hall.

On Oct. 3, Coffee with the Counselor (together with the PTC) will welcome Sgt. Amy Gonzales from the Southern Texas Task Force of the State’s Child Exploitation Unit. Sgt. Gonzales will hold a presentation on Internet and Social Media Safety for SAS 5th and 6th grade parents. The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

The SAS 8th grade class will hold their “class mass” on Sept. 28 at 10:15 a.m.

The regular Friday Children’s Mass will be led by the 3rd grade on Sept. 29 at 8:15 a.m.
