Ladycats dominant in first two district games

The Weimar Ladycats picked up their first two wins of their district schedule last week in dominant fashion. The Ladycats went to battle with the Flatonia Bulldogs on Tuesday, Sept. 19, then came back for more against the Louise Hornets on Saturday, Sept. 23, to open district play. The Ladycats knew these were big games and they did not miss a beat when it came to handling business.

@ Flatonia, W, 3-1 (23-25, 25-11, 25-14, 25-13) The Ladycats were put on their heels a little bit in their first district matchup losing the first set by only two points. But as the old saying goes in sports, “It’s not about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward,” and the Ladycats took this to heart.

The Ladycats would respond in a way that showed that they are going to play hard no matter the circumstances. To not only bounce back after losing the first set on the road but to hold the Bulldogs offense to under 15 points for the rest of the match showed true grit from the Ladycats.

The Ladycats’ offense was able to settle into the game thanks to great defense helping steady the team and slow the game down a little bit to help complete the victory and collect their first district win.

This game would help set the tone for their second game against the Hornets on Friday, Sept. 23, where the Ladycat defense would flex their muscles yet again.

Vs. Louise, W, 3-0 (25-3, 25-14, 25-8) The Ladycats came into this game riding high off their win against the Bulldogs and wanted to keep the momentum going and they delivered with a sweep.

The Ladycat defense would continue to dominate the court, only allowing three points in the first set while the offense took over. The Ladycats would take the first set 25-3 and put their foot on the gas for the rest of the match.

The Ladycats would only surrender 25 total points in the entire match while they cruised to a sweep over the Hornets to collect their second district win of the season. Defensively the Ladycats again steadied their offense and allowed them to find their game early on to put points on the board and keep their momentum and winning ways going.

The Ladycats are in the driver’s seat and can control their own destiny as far as the playoffs go but as of right now, they are only concerned with their next matchup on the road against Shiner on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
