Parents as Teachers fundraiser set for Feb. 4

WEIMAR – The Schulenburg/Weimar area of Parents as Teachers is hosting its annual fundraiser to give a “hats off” to the community for supporting the organization for more than 20 years.

WEIMAR — The Schulenburg/Weimar area of Parents as Teachers is hosting its annual fundraiser to give a “hats off” to the community for supporting the organization for more than 20 years.

The organization will host its fundraiser, Hats Off to PAT, at Swiss Alp Dance Hall, 6940 US Route 77, Schulenburg, on Saturday, Feb. 4. According to a release, PAT hosts this annual fundraiser to sustain its mission of supporting parents through their child’s early life.

The fundraiser will consist of a chicken and prime rib dinner provided by Mikeska’s Bar-B-Q. After dinner, there will be a live auction with five items, followed by music provided by Michael Mach and dancing. There will also be a break to play heads and tails, a dice game and a raffle drawing. An online auction will also take place from Feb. 1- 5.

Last year, the PAT dinner had a total of 160 attendees and raised $72,880. $31,855 of the proceeds were from the silent and live auctions with 99 items sold and 128 registered bidders.

According to a release, six out of ten kids in the U.S. shows up to kindergarten unprepared to learn. PAT educates and supports families from pregnancy until their child enters kindergarten.
