Top 10 finishers highlight day for Columbus CXC

NAVASOTA – The Columbus cross- country team has had a strong run this season with several top performances while they steadily improve and prepare themselves for the district meet. Their most recent outing was reflective of the success they have been able to find this season as Columbus took several medal placements and had a triplet of runners finish in the top 10.

Their most recent outing was reflective of the success they have been able to find this season as Columbus took several medal placements and had a triplet of runners finish in the top 10.

Kaylea Foster took the lead spot for Columbus once again as she took second place for a silver medal after finishing with a time of 13 minutes and 12 seconds. Chloe Ross just missed out on a top five placement, but she was able to secure sixth place with a time of 13 minutes and 29 seconds. Scarlett McClelland had a strong day as well, medaling with a 10th place spot to mark the third top-10 finisher for the Lady Cards. McClelland finished in just under 14 minutes to take the placement. Samantha Gonzales finished around the halfway point of all runners, finishing in 40th place of nearly 80 runners.

The boys also had some runners finish near the halfway point of their side of the tournament. Will Fitzgerald led the boys with a 39th place finish after completing the race in a little under 20 minutes. Elijah Owen was a few places back in 43rd place with a time of 20 minutes and 24 seconds. Keegan Escamilla took 55th place by finishing the race in just over 21 minutes. Armondo Hernandez rounded out the day for the Cards with a 65th place finish.
