Columbus ISD students along with their parents and guests gathered at the Live Oak Art Center, 1014 Milam St., to celebrate the students’ rodeo artwork.
The art center, which displayed the students’ art in January until Feb. 1, hosted the reception and awards ceremony at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27.
Student art with ribbons ranging from blue, red, gold, white and turquoise were displayed. Artwork with turquoise ribbons went to Houston and were finalist.
Elementary school, junior high and high school students received awards for Best of Show and Gold Medal. Jenna Leopold, art teacher at Columbus High School, presented awards to those in attendance including Jami Neuendorff, Junior High Best of Show, Sophia Martinez, Junior High Gold Medal Winner, Melanie Cabrera, High School Best of Show and Lydia Benjamin, High School Gold Medal Winner.
Students who won Gold Medal and Best of Show had copies of their artwork displayed at the gallery. The original is in Houston set to be displayed at the livestock show and rodeo, starting Feb. 28.
