CJHS Lady Cards defeat RJHS Lady Raiders

The junior high teams for both Rice and Columbus competed against each other at Rice as part of rivalry week. Columbus took the advantage in their matches as both seventh grade teams and eighth grade teams battled to sweeps for their respective matches against Rice.

The junior high teams for both Rice and Columbus competed against each other at Rice as part of rivalry week. Columbus took the advantage in their matches as both seventh grade teams and eighth grade teams battled to sweeps for their respective matches against Rice.

The A-team competitions for both grades went heavily in the Lady Cards’ favor as they defeated the Lady Raiders by big margins. The 7A team Columbus team beat Rice 25-6 in the first set and 25-10 in the second set. The 8A match finished in similar fashion as the 8A Lady Cards defeated the 8A Lady Raiders by a 25-1 margin in game one and a 25-6 margin in game two.

The B-teams for each school also had a similar result despite the matches being much closer. The 7B Lady Raiders brought some competition against Columbus, scoring 15 or more points in each set. However, the Lady Cards won game one 25-15 and game two 25-17 to claim the match. The eighthgrade match was also close as the Lady Raiders had the highest single- game scores of all the Rice teams. After losing game one 25-12, the Lady Raiders responded with 19 points in a defeat to the Lady Cards to end the match.
