The Wintermann Foundation will be the 45th annual Colorado County Fair Parade Marshall and will lead the parade at 10 a.m. on Sept 16.
The County Fair parade has been a staple since its inaugural event. The parade features local businesses, marching bands as well as the fair queens and fellow court members. The Parade Marshall takes the lead at the front of the pack from its starting point on Milam Street as it marches through downtown Columbus.
The Winterman Foundation is a private, non-profit foundation based in Eagle Lake, TX. Established by the late David & Eula Wintermann, the foundation focuses on medical research, medical education and community improvement. Among its philanthropic ventures, Wintermann Foundation currently supports oncology research and research scholarships for medical students. Through land donations and a grant to Texas A&M University Foundation, the Wintermann Foundation has also supported scientific advancement in agriculture at the David R. Wintermann Rice Research Station at Eagle Lake. The foundation’s namesakes have a legacy of philanthropy that was a significant benefit to their hometown of Eagle Lake. Gifts from the Wintermanns made possible the Eagle Lake Community Center and the Wintermann Library. The Prairie Edge Museum and the Rice Medical Center also benefitted from their support. The Wintermann Foundation was established in 1983.
