JV Raiders dominate in game one

The JV Rice Raiders won their season opener 41-0 over the Luling Eagles at the Swamp in Altair on Aug. 24.

Deodrick Fitzgerald scored two touchdowns in the first quarter and Hayes Dingler kicked two PATs. AJ Jenkins added another touchdown in the first quarter. The PAT was no good, making the score 20-0 at the start of the 2nd quarter.

In the second, Jenkins threw a TD pass to Isaiah Castillo. Dingler made another PAT, making the score 27-0 at halftime.

Miguel Marquez scored a touchdown in the third quarter followed by another Dingler PAT to make the score 34-0 going into the fourth. Chase Diggs added a touchdown in the 4th quarter and another Dingler PAT made the final score 41-0.

Isaiah Castillo had an interception as part of a strong defensive effort. Gage Gayton and Lawson Floyd also played well on defense.

The offensive line led by Gabriel Barboza, Gage Gayton and Payton Engelbrecht also played well in the victory.
