CHS homecoming kick-off slated for Sept. 20

COLUMBUS — It’s time to show your team spirit by attending the first Columbus High School Homecoming Kick-off Sept. 20, organizers said.

The event, which organizers hope to make an annual celebration, includes a parade at 6:30 p.m.

The high school’s cheer squad and the Athletic Booster Club are inviting visitors to attend, according to a release.

After the parade, there will be a community pep rally at the high school gym, 103 Cardinal Lane, and a bonfire.

Local businesses and school organizations will have booths that open after the parade, sponsors said.

Items available for purchase include homecoming ribbons, face tattoos, homecoming mums, pictures with the Birds, face painting and food and drinks.

The homecoming football game starts 7:30 p.m. Sept. 22 with the Cardinals taking on Hargrave High School.
