FAYETTEVILLE — St. John the Baptist Catholic Church is holding its annual feast Sept. 3 on the grounds and in the parish hall at 301 Bell St.
According to a release, “The feast is known as a homecoming for many graduates and former residents of Fayetteville.”
A portion of the funds will be donated to Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA — volunteers who become a “voice” for abused or neglected children, often in the foster-care system.
A Mass featuring polka music will be celebrated by the Rev. Steve Sauser at 10 a.m.
After the worship event, local musicians will perform under the pavilion.
At 10:30 a.m., a meal featuring barbecue pork, sausage, potatoes, sauerkraut, beans, pickles and tea will be offered at $15.
Plates will be available in the drive-thru line or can be picked up to-go at the parish hall, where visitors will find homemade pastries and kolaches. Diners can also enjoy their meal inside the air-conditioned venue, where there will be a silent auction, a live auction and other booths.
Beginning at 1:30 p.m., barbecue sandwiches, sausage wraps and nachos will be available all afternoon.
A country auction starts at 1:30 p.m. and typically features quilts, antiques, coins, livestock and more, organizers said.
Bingo runs from 2-6 p.m. In addition, there will be a cake and flower wheel, a country store and a variety of kids’ activities.
The day before, on Sept. 2, congregants will prepare more than 200 dozen fresh-baked kolaches available to buy from 10 a.m.to 3:30 p.m.
Those items not sold Sept. 2, plus homemade pastries, will be available Sept. 3 during the feast.
