COLUMBUS — The public is invited to attend a free program, led by landscape architect Steve Wiste, to help them get their outdoors ready for spring.

The program will be held at Nesbitt Memorial Library, 529 Washington St., Feb. 2 from 6-8 p.m. and cover a variety of topics to give attendees fresh ideas to enhance their thinking towards their spring landscape design. Wiste will discuss using color and texture to create dynamic contrast. He will also provide specific recommendations of plants that work well in this region for those wanting to attract butterflies, bees and hummingbirds.

“Making a significant ‘focal point’ in your space is easier to do with the help of a professional’s experience,” said Patsy Hodge, President of Friends of Nesbitt Memorial Library. “Steve’s advice on how to get more out of your soil before spring arrives is perfectly timed to prepare now instead of later.”

Wiste is a dedicated landscape architect with decades of experience in creatively transforming outdoor spaces, according to a release. One of the features of his program is helping people design with easier maintenance in mind. Participants will become smarter in early design tactics, which can lead to less work and help people enjoy more of their outdoor spaces.
