Colorado County Commissioners Court took place once again August 14, 2023 at 9:00am. Located at Colorado County Courthouse in the County Courtroom on 400 Spring St Columbus, Texas 78934.
The court started off by taking the time to recognize Sergeant Carol Richter on her retirement after working in the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office from July 14,1981 to July 31 2023. Sergeant Carol Richter was honored for her extraordinary career and courageous efforts on behalf of the citizens in this county.
An order was submitted to the court for an Election on November 7, 2023 to confirm the creation of Colorado County Emergency Services District No.1. As well as authorize the imposition of a tax not to exceed the rate allowed by section 48-E, Article 3, of the Texas Constitution as authorized by Texas Health and Safety Code, Section 775.018.
This is important because if you didn’t get a chance to catch the last Commissioners Court, the Colorado County ESD was the hot topic that led to a 4-hour long meeting.
But November 7 is not only important for the ESD. Also was an order of Election by the Colorado County Commissioners Court for a Constitutional Amendment election. A Notice of Election was ordered to have ESD #1 at all 11 county polling locations.
Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) 2023 certified county- maintained road milage for Colorado County was approved.
The following contracts for juvenile detention/residential services was approved:

• Gulf Coast Trades Center (9/1/2023-8/31/2024)
• Youth Opportunity Investments LLC, Center for Success and Independence at Rockdale Academy (short -term and long-term) (9/1/2023-8/31/2024).
• Consent Items that were approved were:
• Proposed biennium budget for FY2024-2025 for the 2nd 25th Judicial Dist r ict Communit y Super v ision and Correction Department and proposed FY2024 budget for the Juvenile Probation Department, pursuant to Local Government Code 140.004
• Superheavy or Oversize Permit Bond posted Castex Energy, Inc (7/27/2023-7/27/2024)
• Certificate of Liability Insurance posted by:
• S & S Irrigation, Inc (8/13/2023-8/13/2024)
• Kinder Morgan, Inc. including Permain Highway Pipeline LLC, Kinder Morgan Tejas Pipeline LLC, and Copano Pipeline/South Texas LLC (8/1/20229/1/2023).
• Financial Reports like County Auditor’s Monthly Financial Report, County Investment Officers Investment Report, County Treasure’s Monthly Report, and Affidavit approving County Treasurer’s Monthly report, all are which for the month of July 2023.
