EAGLE LAKE— Residents looking for mental and behavioral health services can seek help from Rice Medical Center’s Lighthouse program.

Odette Elliston, director of the Lighthouse’s Geriatric Intensive Outpatient Program, and Denise Sklar, the assessment coordinator, spoke before the Eagle Lake United Women of Faith on Jan. 17 about the benefits of the program.

The staff said the Lighthouse is for older adults in the community who are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, psychosis or other behavioral difficulties. According to a release, the Lighthouse is a beacon of hope during the rough waters of aging, providing caring, compassionate, supportive services for senior mental health needs.

The program features group therapy four days per week, filled with information, coping skills, and activities to address mental health needs. The program also includes individual and/or family therapy, oversight and medication management by a board-certified psychiatrist, safe and compassionate care by a team of providers and nutritious meals.

Lighthouse RMC accepts referrals from physicians, family members, organizations caring for older adults and self-referrals. For more information or to make a referral, call 979-2327095.
