Rice Raiders Head Coach and Athletic Director Brad Dumont was the special speaker at the Eagle Lake Noon Lions Club on Thursday, Aug. 3.
Dumont coached at Rice High School during the 1999-2013 school years before taking a hiatus retirement from the program. Last year he came out of retirement to become Rice Consolidated Independent School District’s Athletic Director and Head Football Coach.
Rice CISD is optimistic about his return to lead Raider sports. Dumont is an “Old School Coach” who has proven to be a winner and a strong, positive leader to the athletic program. He and his family have always lived in Eagle Lake, making him a staple of the community even during his hiatus from coaching.
“Being part of the community is so rewarding because I get to see kids that I coached back in the day who are grown and married, and now have kids of their own who are playing on the Raiders teams,” Coach Dumont said, “Being back home at Rice has been great. I love Rice Consolidated.
I bleed blue.” Before he left the meeting Coach Dumont invited everyone to come on out and enjoy watching some games.
“We’re in for a good season this year. We’ve all made some strides and the other coaches and I are building strong programs,” Dumont said.
“We’ve got a beautiful complex and I’m really proud of my staff. The kids have worked hard in the weight room and on the field throughout the summer. Our goal is to win. If you’re interested in the game schedule, look me up on the school website and shoot me an email. I’ll put you on my newsletter list.”
The fall schedule for the Raider volleyball, football and cross-country teams are set to begin shortly as the start of the school year approaches.
