On August 5th, 2023 at approximately 6 p.m., the Eagle Lake Police Department and the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office responded to J & K’s Corner in Eagle Lake in reference to a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, all of the involved parties remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. It was determined that an incident had escalated into a shooting subsequent to an assault with a motor vehicle that originated from a verbal argument.
The victim had been shot in a non-vital body part, and the shooter has alleged the incident was self-defense due to the assault with a motor vehicle. The victim (50) who was shot is from Bellville and the individual identified as the shooter (60) is from Alleyton.
The victim was transported to Rice Medical Center by EMS for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made at this time. No names of involved subjects or other details are being released until further investigation can be conducted.
