COLUMBUS — The Health and Behavioral Wellness Council of Greater Colorado Valley kicked off the year by informing the public of its various committees and how people can get involved.

The group, also known as The Wellness Council, met Jan. 12 at the Colorado County Courthouse on the first floor, Room 106, 400 Spring St.

The organization is seeking volunteers for its current committees and is seeking a chair and volunteers for is its Communication and Media Committee.

“It will take a good group of volunteers who want to make positive changes in our community to move forward in developing solutions to meet the many needs of our citizens,” said President Mazie Leftwich in a prepared release.

Leftwich adds, “We are very excited to have two new standing committees, Local Housing Needs and Local Transportation Needs. And very exciting news is that once again, TAMU School of Public Health, under the direction of Dr. James Burdine, will be working with The Wellness Council and these two new committees and conducting a housing and transportation needs assessment this year!”
