The Weimar Vets hosted the Shiner Clippers at Strickland Field on Sunday, July 23. The Clippers scored a run in each of the first three innings while the Vets matched that to tie the game at 3-3 after five innings. The Clippers broke the tie with three runs in the top of the sixth to take a 6-3 lead, which proved to be the final score.
Leading hitters were: Brett Janacek- 2 Singles, RBI, HBP; Jared Barton-Single, RBI, Walk; Josh Morgan- Single, RBI There were a few standouts defensively for the Vets. Clay Barton had a highlight defensive play with an over-the-shoulder diving catch followed by a throw to second for an inning-ending double play. Jared Barton, Kevin Polasek and Trey Daniels also gunned down a runner attempting to steal second.
