The Blinn College District and the Columbus, Fayetteville, Flatonia, Schulenburg, and Weimar Independent School Districts are in a partnership designed to increase high school dual credit completion and establish seamless pathways toward postsecondary awards and industry credentials.

The Alliance for College and Career Student Success in South-Central Texas partner schools collaborate to remove barriers that might impact if a student could participate in dual credit. With the support of regional funders and community investors, transportation and cost of fees and tuition will not be a barrier to students enrolling. Recently, Fayette Savings Bank donated $1,050 to underwrite student planners for all ACCSS participants. Additionally, Fayette Savings Bank representatives will present financial literacy lessons at partner campuses. Along with the students enrolled in dual credit classes, both academic and career, ACCSS partner schools are offering classes based on curriculum created with a focus on employability skills. The Foundations for College and Career Success lessons will help participants not only gain important life and study skills but prepare them for future decisions related to their schooling and workplace opportunities.

Fayette Savings Bank was founded in 1978 by local folks who believed that a strong conservative bank could serve our community’s needs, without outside help. Over the years they have been proven right. Fayette Savings Bank is a full-service bank with branches conveniently located in La Grange, Flatonia, Schulenburg, and Weimar.

Through ACCSS, students will have the opportunity to choose a pathway and open the door to graduating high school with college hours and/or certificate( s) that will help them acquire a job in a high demand, high paying field. The pathways they will have to choose from initially include: 42 Texas Core Curriculum, Allied Health/Nursing, Construction & Building Trades, Teaching, and Agri-Business.

For more information, contact Susie Shank, director, at the Blinn College- Schulenburg Campus at 979-743-5239 or [email protected]. If preferred, donations may be dropped off at the Fayette Community Foundation office in La Grange or the Blinn College – Schulenburg Campus. Fayette Community Foundation is a 501c3, therefore donations are tax deductible. Donors may select specific campus or campuses to benefit or to support the ACCSS program as a whole.
