The Wildcats’ varsity baseball team received recognition for a few of their standout players after a strong season that ended with a postseason appearance and a Bi-District Championship. The upperclassmen had a huge impact on the Wildcats’ success this season with several veteran players taking large roles at the plate and in the field.
Due to their performance this season following a playoff-round victory, a few of these impact, veteran players received honors from the Victoria Advocate as the publication named their All-Area team for baseball this season. Seniors Brady Henke and Hudson Ervin along with junior Wyatt Lacina earned their spots on the team after solid seasons at their respective positions.
Henke received the highest honor from the publication, being named the Advocate’s Offensive Player of the Year. Lacina and Ervin earned a spot on the All-Area second team as a catcher and an infielder respectively. Henke and Lacina made up a potent battery that helped the Wildcats secure some tough victories, including during the postseason. Ervin provided the veteran presence in the infield, playing the hot corner at third base to help bolster Weimar’s defense.
