Weimar Vets fall to the Brewers

The Weimar Vets hosted the Austin County Brewers at Strickland Field on Sunday. The starting pitcher for the Brewers kept the Vets’ hitters in check for six shutout innings including five perfect innings while putting up eight runs themselves. The Vets cut the lead to 8-4, but the Brewers put the game away with five runs in the ninth for a final score of 13-6.

The Vets cut the lead to 8-4, but the Brewers put the game away with five runs in the ninth for a final score of 13-6.

Seven unearned runs and nine runs in two innings for the Brewers were costly to the Vets. Ryker Goehring had another good outing, allowing no runs or walks with two strikeouts in three innings. Alex Pieper threw for over two innings with two strikeouts and no earned runs. Zane Ponder started the game, allowing two earned runs while striking out three in just over three innings.
