DALLAS – The 95th annual Texas FFA Convention hosted Weimar FFA and hundreds of other schools as they recognized different state awards for the teams present. Weimar received plenty of recognition themselves with several of their members taking the highest honor the Texas FFA Association can bestow. They also had a few of their competitive teams receive some recognition for their performance as well in state competitions, receiving trophies and certificates to mark their achievements in their respective categories.
Fourteen different members were awarded the Lone Star FFA Degree at the convention. The Lone Star Degree is the highest degree that FFA members can earn during their time. To qualify, members must be active for two years and complete at least four semesters of agricultural science. They must also have maintained a supervised agricultural experience with the school’s FFA program as well as shown commitment and leadership during their time with FFA. Weimar’s FFA students displayed each of these values with several recipients of the award.
Weimar FFA also received some recognition for the state-winning teams after they won the title for their respective categories. The Senior Quiz team and the Food Science team each received trophies as an award for taking first place in the state for their knowledge of their competitive topic.
There were several other notable moments for Weimar FFA at the Texas FFA convention as the program received a chapter grant and recognition as the Outstanding Alumni Affiliate. Weimar also received a WLC scholarship as well. Hudson Ervin received a personal scholarship as the graduated senior moves on past his time at WHS.
