The Raiders had a difficult game against one of the top teams in the district when they traveled to face the Yoakum Bulldogs on Tuesday, Jan. 17. While the offense was able to have some impact, their defense left much to be desired as they allowed Yoakum to score more than 70 points in Rice’s 54-72 defeat.
Rice had not allowed a team to cross the 70-point mark since a game in late December against Sacred Heart. That mark turned out to be the difference in this game against the Bulldogs as Yoakum’s offense was too much for the Raiders to deal with defensively.
Jalen Porch was the top scorer for the Raiders in the loss. He was followed by Dyren Johnson who scored 12 points of his own. D’Neriyan Fuller and Jon Woods scored nine points each to tie for the third-highest total on the team.
