Tressa Alley has been promoted to Area Publisher for the Colorado County Citizen and Sealy newspapers. This announcement was made Wednesday, June 21 by Daniel Philhower, president and CEO for Granite Media Partners.
“Tressa has been with Granite since August of 2019 and has continually shown loyalty, professionalism, dependability, and leadership. She has helped us navigate some difficult transitions over the past few years and has remained steadfast and dedicated to the Citizen and to the Columbus community,” Philhower said.
“I have offered Tressa the opportunity to take her successes in Columbus and emulate them also in Sealy.”
Alley, a Columbus native, graduated from Columbus High School in 1998, and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a BBA in Accounting in 2002. She is currently a graduate student at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, pursuing her MBA in business management and her MAcc in accountancy.
“It’s an honor to have been asked to continue to serve this community as publisher,” Alley said. “Our mission will remain the same: to bring quality local news to our readers and serve our advertiser’s needs”.
Before joining the Citizen, Alley worked various jobs in the county, including as General Manager at AJ Struss Company in Eagle Lake from 2009-2015 and with LHTX by Leigh Hajovsky from 2015-2019.
Alley and her husband, John Wayne Alley, Jr. (also a Columbus native and a descendant of Stephen F. Austin’s “Old Three Hundred” that originally settled this area in 1821), have been married for 25 years and have three children: Natalie, 25, Donovan, 20, and recent Columbus High School graduate Kayli, 17.
