COLUMBUS – The Columbus Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its Second Annual Gun Raffle on Monday, September 25.
Raffle tickets are $20 each and are available for purchase until September 24. CVFD said only 1500 tickets will be sold. To pick up a ticket, stop by city hall, Columbus Tire Center, or purchase from a CVFD member. CVFD said donations will also be accepted.
The funds raised will be used to help outfit a new rescue pumper that was recently ordered. CVFD said the funds will also be used towards truck equipment such as light towers, hoses, nozzles, chainsaws, exhaust fans, breathing apparatus, hand tools, generators, Halligans, pike poles, rescue tools, and ropes and harnesses.
CVFD said last year’s gun raffle was a success. They said last year they raffled 20 guns and sold 1,000 tickets.
“This year we increased the number of firearms on the ticket, and we increased the number of tickets to be sold,” a spokesperson for CVFD said.
This year, CVFD will be raffling 30 guns ranging from $300 to $1,000 Winners will pick up their guns from Johnny’s Sport Shop, 101 Boothe Drive, Eagle Lake.
Winners will have 60 days after the drawing to pick up their firearm.
“They can pick up the firearm that they won, or they can trade that firearm in for a multitude of items within that store,” a CVFD spokesperson said.
CVFD said it appreciates the community’s continued support in helping them continue to protect the city of Columbus and surrounding communities.
