DPS seeks public’s help in fatal hit and run

Pedestrian killed on FM 3013 in Eagle Lake in incident

EAGLE LAKE – The Texas Department of Public Safety is asking for the public’s help in a felony fatal hit-andrun crash investigation that killed a pedestrian on FM 3013 in Eagle Lake.

The crash occurred on FM 3013 near FM 1093, approximately between 11 p.m. Saturday, June 17 and 12:15 a.m. Sunday, June 18.

DPS said evidence recovered at the scene indicates the vehicle involved is likely a Ford sport-utility vehicle. The SUV is expected to have significant damage to the front and passenger side, according to a release. Evidence troopers collected is pictured above.

DPS said the preliminary investigation indicates the SUV was traveling northeast on FM 3013 when it struck Alejandro Madrid- Juarez, 50, of Eagle Lake who was walking northeast bound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the DPS report.

DPS said the driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid and is currently being sought by investigators for questioning.

DPS is asking anyone - including automotive body shop owners/employees - who have information on this fatal crash, to contact the Texas DPS Houston Regional office at 281517-1300 immediately.
