The Columbus CATfish swim team is hoping to have another good showing at this year’s Meet of Champs after having several swimmers qualify for the event in different competitive categories. When the competitors meet in El Campo on Saturday, June 24, they will be hoping to bring home several medals just as they did during last season’s competition.
Last year, the CATfish had impressive performances throughout, finishing in second place overall at one of the summer’s final meets of the season. They had a plethora of first-place finishes during the swimmers’ respective races. They came away with over 20 gold medals as a team with several swimmers taking multiple gold medal finishes. They also found a lot of success with their relay teams as they were able to earn four gold medals combined from the group of youth swimmers that contributed to their high placement as a team.
With the CATfish continuing to make progress with their program and hope for another strong performance in the Meet of Champs, they will hope that they can repeat their success from last year’s Texas Amateur Athletic Federation’s regional swim meet and advance a new group of swimmers to the state competition.
After a season of strong performances by the swimmers on the team, Columbus looks to continue their stretch of strong performances with another top-3 placement in this year’s Meet of Champs.
