Rice CISD approves incentives for teacher recruitment

ALTAIR – On May 15, the Rice Consolidated Independent School District held a board meeting to discuss incentives regarding teacher recruitment.

The board determined that any teacher who signs a contract between May 16 and Aug. 31 will receive a $3,000 signing bonus. The board said the bonus will be split and received in the first and seventh checks of their pay schedule.

The board also approved a $1,000 teacher recruitment stipend for all staff including contracted and non-contracted employees. The board said that with the exception of those on multiyear contracts, all staff are eligible to receive the stipend. To receive the stipend, the board said the new teacher would need to provide the reference on their application or write a letter stating who recruited them. This stipend will be available from May 16-Aug 31. Employees will receive the stipend on their September check.

The board also said that each staff member will receive five district and five state days beginning in the 2023-2024 school years.
