The Rice Little League softballers had some difficulties against the Weimar All-Stars during their head-to-head matchup last week. While Rice was able to prevent a difficult shutout defeat, they could not put much more on the board to make the game closer. After a tough end to the game, the girls finished with a 13-1 defeat to end their summer season against Weimar.
The Rice 8U softball team allowed a big lead by their opponents to start the game. Weimar got early runs and kept up a defensive effort that made things difficult for Rice. Getting on base and reaching home were difficult until they got a run on the board with an inside-thepark homerun. After falling even further behind on the scoreboard, Rice eventually suffered the defeat when the officials called the game to a mercy-rule finish.
