The summer 7 on 7 season is in full swing as the Weimar Wildcats competed in the Rice-hosted state qualifying tournament for a chance to move on to the state championship tournament later in the month. The Wildcats competed, but they generally had struggles scoring the football during their games as they never truly threatened to take the lead or overcome deficits in any of the three games they played during the pool stage. After completing pool play without a single win, the Wildcats left the tournament still hoping they can turn things around for their next shot at a qualification.
Weimar found themselves in the same pool as the host Raiders against a host of other nearby schools. The Wildcats started their day against Tidehaven, a team that would go on to secure one of the state qualifying spots from the tournament. Things did not go in Weimar’s favor as they struggled to score in a big 27-point shutout loss to the Tigers. The Wildcats finally made it on the scoreboard in their next game against the Rice Raiders, but they could not do much to keep the game close as their county rivals quickly created a big lead. The Raiders eventually took the game by a 26-8 margin. Weimar finished the tournament with one of their most difficult outings of the day with a tough loss against the East Bernard Brahmas. The Brahmas shut out Weimar while also scoring 34 points as the Wildcats fell under the intense pressure on both sides of the ball.
