Columbus 7 on 7 just misses out qualifying at SQT

WIMBERLEY – The Columbus Cardinals 7 on 7 team is hoping that they will be playing in the state tournament later this month, but to do so, they will need to secure one of the few spots available at the top of the standings at a state qualifying tournament throughout the season. The Cards could not take advantage of their first opportunity to potentially secure their spot at State despite winning two of their games in pool play.

The tournament included teams from a wide-ranging area. Columbus competed against Lago Vista, Geronimo Navarro and San Antonio Davenport in their own group, while the hosts, Cameron Yoe, Smithville and Bridge City vied for a state spot in the other pool. While specific matchup information was not available at the time of press deadline, the Cards claimed wins in two of their pool games with just one loss. Unfortunately for Columbus, this was not enough to punch their spot to the final state-qualifying game as SA Davenport and Cameron Yoe competed against each other as the winners of each pool. Davenport took the win and claimed their spot in the state tournament later in the month.
