On Dec. 3rd Officer Arrison initiated a traffic stop in the 800 block of E. Main St. The driver Gavin Hobbs, 25, of Sheridan was arrested for driving with an invalid license with previous convictions and not having liability insurance. He was then transported to the Colorado County Jail.

On Dec. 4th Officer Arrison initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that was travelling well over the posted speed limit in the 500 block of E. Main St. The driver was identifi ed as Isiais Gil, 38, of Houston. After further investigation it was determined that he was driving while intoxicated. He was placed into custody and safely transported to the Colorado County Jail.

On Dec. 7th Officer Byars and Officer Gonzales were dispatched to a hit and run accident at the intersection of W. Post Office and N. McCarty. The suspect vehicle was located on Sunderman Rd. after colliding with a fence. The driver was subsequently identified as Joseph Rios, 20, of Eagle Lake. After investigating Mr. Rios was found to be travelling with marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle when he collided with the other vehicle. He was arrested and transported to the Colorado County Jail.

On Dec.7th Officer Arrison observed a suspicious vehicle parked near the City Park after hours. After further investigation Malik Miller, 21, of Houston was arrested for possession of marijuana and unlawfully carrying a firearm. He was given a courtesy transport to the Colorado County Jail.

On Dec. 8th Officer Arrison initiated a traffic stop on Beaks at Church St. The driver was identified as Vondre Ratcliff, 29, of Richmond. After a brief investigation Mr. Ratcliff was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and unlawfully carrying a firearm. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Colorado County Jail.

On Dec. 10th Officer Byars initiated a traffic stop in the 800 block of E. Main St. Upon making contact with the driver, several problems were discovered. Anthony De La Portilla, 40, of Houston was driving with a suspended license, had a warrant for his arrest, had a stolen firearm in his possession as a convicted felon, and was also found to be in possession of marijuana. He was provided a courtesy transport to the Colorado County Jail.

On Dec. 16th Officer Arrison was notified of a reckless driver approaching the Eagle Lake city limits on FM 102. Officer Arrison located the vehicle, and the driver was suspected to be intoxicated. The scene was released to Deputies of the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office.

On Dec. 17th Officer Arrison conducted a traffic stop on E. State St. The driver initially identified himself as an individual that Officer Arrison knew wasn’t him. After further investigation Edwin Miller, 39, of Eagle Lake was arrested for fail to identify as a fugitive and intentionally giving false information, driving with an invalid license with previous convictions, as well as several outstanding warrants. He was subsequently transported to the Colorado County Jail.

On Dec.18th Officer Petrosky was dispatched to a possible suicidal subject in the 100 block of Justin Way. The subject was located and transported for treatment.

On Dec. 26th Officer Arrison was advised by dispatch and Amtrak Police that an individual on a train stopped in the 200 block of E. Post Office had been making terroristic threats since the train was in New Orleans. The suspect was identified as Michael Champion, 46, of Raleigh, North Carolina. After checking with dispatch he was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. His trip on the train ended as he was transported to the Colorado County Jail.

On Dec. 28th Officer Blackburn was dispatched to the 700 block of E. Main St. in reference to criminal trespass and terroristic threats. The suspects were identified, and case remains under investigation.

The Eagle Lake Police Department responded to over 154 calls for service in Dec as well as conducting numerous traffic stops.
