Art Show Opening June 3

COLUMBUS - Little Milam, Coffee, Wine, & Eatery, located on the square in downtown Columbus, 1136 Milam Street, will have a photography exhibit, “Columbus, Texas Through Different Lenses” on Saturday, June 3 from 4-6 p.m.  

The public is invited to attend the exhibit’s opening party. 

The show will feature works from Alisha Serenil Brummett and Steven Konarik. Two photographers who take very different styles of photos of Columbus, according to a release. 

“You can typically find Alisha and Steve separately walking around Columbus.” said Sarah Koller, partner at Little Milam, “Little Milam is a place where you can celebrate differences and the show celebrates the town but through different eyes. We think it is the perfect first show.” 

According to a release, Brummett is a wife and mother of five who took on the challenge of homeschooling when her oldest was just six. Now that her children are older, she’s taking on a new challenge - finding a purpose in her passion for photography. In addition to mom-taxiing, and homemaking, Brummett is a beach lover and former missionary. While newcomers to Columbus, the Brummetts are definitely becoming part of the community. Brummett also contributes to the Banner Press Newspaper, both in writing and in photographs.  

Trained as a chef, Steven Konarik photographs the ordinary, the unusual and the odd, according to a release. Running from flora to priceless works of art, he captures his own unique perspective often with a twist of double exposure. “Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others,” is a guiding principle in his works. Konarik's rogue photography style allows him to shoot in black and white and vibrant color, to give the best effect to the shot.

Little Milan will be open Tuesday - Friday at 7 a.m. and Saturday at 8 a.m.
