Lady Cards golfing takes top 10 placement at State

AUSTIN – Columbus’ lady golf team continued one of the best multiyear stretches in its history with a fourth-straight State Championship Meet appearance. This year marked their best finish in that stretch as they cracked into the top 10 in the standings with quality performances throughout the roster. After a score of 429 on the first day, the Lady Cards responded with a strong second day after finishing with 394 shots. Their two-day total of 823 claimed the ninth-place spot in the standings, just a single stroke away from tying the eighth-place finisher.

After a score of 429 on the first day, the Lady Cards responded with a strong second day after finishing with 394 shots. Every golfer on the Lady Cards team improved their totals from the first day to the second. Kambrie Toppel finished her first day with a 104 before dropping her score all the way to a 90 on the second day for a 194 total. Jordyn Templeton had a team-low on the first day with a 103, and she followed it up with a 96 on the second day for a total of 199. Thea Schobel was the next highest finisher for the Lady Cards after shooting a 104 on the first day and a 99 on the second for a 203 total. Katharine Burnett finished the meet with a total score of 227 after scoring 118 on the first day and shaving nine strokes off the next day with a 109. Summer Adams scored a 120 on day one before scoring a 111 on day two for a total score of 231 from the state meet.
