Myers finishes as top 10 thrower in state

AUSTIN – The Rice Raiders represented in the UIL State Championship Meet for the second season in a row after sending a lone Raider last season for a sprinting event. This season, Rice found their state-level performance on the field as Robert Myers took on the shotput throw event after a strong season that saw him make several impressive performances. Myers secured ninth place at the state meet in a field of upperclassmen as he was the only thrower at the state meet for shotput that was not at least a junior.

Myers earned his way to the state meet after taking silver medals in both the area and regional meets. At the state meet, Myers had his best throw with a near 50-foot throw during his fifth attempt as he tried to finish as high in the standings as possible.
