Wildcats fall short of win despite big games

The Weimar Wildcats had chances near the end of their game against Ganado to potentially come out with a victory. They were able to score and defend at a relatively high level all game. However, Ganado made just enough plays to take the tight victory as they held on for a 56-53 win.

The Weimar Wildcats had chances near the end of their game against Ganado to potentially come out with a victory. They were able to score and defend at a relatively high level all game. However, Ganado made just enough plays to take the tight victory as they held on for a 56-53 win.

The Wildcats had to fight through some adversity to make the game close at the end. They fell behind early, being outscored in each of the first three quarters by margins of 16-11, 11-10 and 18-12 respectively. The Wildcats entered the fourth quarter with 45-23 deficit on the scoreboard. Weimar exploded in the final period with a 20-point push to cut into the lead, but there was not enough time left on the clock to complete the comeback.

Brady Henke was this game’s top scorer. He finished with 19 points, followed by Derek Rees who finished with 18 points. They also snared seven rebounds each while Henke picked up three steals and three assists to add with his numbers. Huxton Kloesel had a near double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds, and his frontcourt mate Dreylon McMillian also just missed out on a double-double with eight points and eight rebounds.
